My Semi-Formal Hairstyle

Hey everyone, it’s T here. I know our posting schedule hasn’t been regular lately, but big things have been happening. M went to an Ariana Grande concert last night, which is absolutely amazing, and I got my first boyfriend! Today, I wanted to talk about my hairstyle for the semi-formal dance we are all going to tonight. Usually I just run a brush through my hair and call it a day. I obviously cannot do my usual look for this occasion, as something a little more put together was necessary, so I decided to go with the Hollywood-esque curls for this event. Without further ado, let’s get into the hairstyle!

To start off this look, I had to shower and let my hair air-dry beforehand, because I wanted to make sure it wouldn’t get greasy by the end of the night.(you could also blow-dry it if you preferred) Many people swear by using “second day hair” which gives it more texture because of the natural oils, but I have just never been able to commit to that without finding a quality dry shampoo first. After I let my hair dry, which can take quite a few hours with how thick it is, I then start the curling process. This step can take about an hour for me, but maybe a little less depending on how much I rush. For most people, however, you could probably do this in about 30 minutes, I just have a lot of hair to deal with. I used a 1.5 inch barrel with a clamp, and curling in both directions to make it look more natural. I always need to use hair spray with every curl I make to ensure it will hold all night.

After my whole head is curled, then starts the deconstructing. At this stage the curls are very defined, and you might look a bit like Shirley Temple. To solve this problem, flip your head upside down and run your fingers through your hair, and alternate with spraying it some more (while you’re still upside down). This will loosen the hold and give you more of a romantic wave. This takes some playing around with to get it just right, so just keep working with it until you get the desired effect.

473b119918fa195e22e8b204f6c9ae89This was my inspiration picture for what I wanted my hair to look like.

This would be the point when you could decide to pin back a few pieces or create a nice up-do, but I decided to leave it down, so I’ll just spray it once more, because my hair definitely needs all of the help it can get. (If your hair holds curls well, you don’t have to spray it every time I recommended you do so)

Well that’s all I have to share with you today, I hope you enjoyed, and let me know how your hair comes out if you decide to try it. Thanks for reading!

Ciao for now, T.

Strawberry Crepes

Hi guys, it’s P! I apologize for my lack of activity on the blog lately, but I’ve returned with a post I think you’re all going to love; a recipe for strawberry and cream crepes! Anyone who knows me knows that I have a bit of a sweet tooth, especially in regards to anything made with strawberries. Now before making these heavenly treats, know that they can be time consuming, but are completely worth the effort. Perfect for a lazy Sunday brunch!

Strawberries, What You’ll Need…

  1. 3 cups of diced strawberries
  2. 1 cup granulated sugar
  3. 2 Tbsp lemon juice
  4. 1/2 tsp vanilla

Combine your ingredients and bring them to a boil in a large pot. Lower heat and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally

Cream, What You’ll Need…

  1. 2 Tbsp powdered sugar
  2. 2 cups whipping cream
  3. 1 package instant vanilla pudding

Begin by using an electric mixer on your whipping cream, high speed. Add your vanilla powder and wait until the mixture begins to thicken to add pudding powder. Continue mixing until smooth and refrigerate until you’re ready.

Crepes, What You’ll Need…

  1. 2 cups flour
  2. 4 eggs
  3. 1 cup milk
  4. 1 cup water
  5. 1/2 tsp salt
  6. 4 Tbsp melted butter
  7. 4 tsp sugar

In a large bowl, whisk flour and eggs together. Slowly add milk and water and mix together with an immersion blender until smooth. Add salt, butter, and sugar and continue beating.

Grease and heat pan at medium high heat. Pour 1/4 cup batter into pan and tilt until all the edges are covered and then pan is coated evenly. Cook for 1-2 minutes and flip. Cook on other side for another minute and serve hot.

~~

The cream will simply melt when you spread it onto your crepe, while the sugary juices from the strawberries get soaked up, balancing out a perfect mix of sweet and tart flavors. After you fold your crepe, it’s up to you to have fun with it! You can use powdered sugar or chocolate syrup for added taste. If you’re like me though, you’ll just want to eat it as it is. Thank you guys for reading, please do yourselves a favor and try out this recipe!!

What’s In My Makeup Bag/Products I Love

Hey guys, it’s T here. I always love to see what other people’s makeup bags look like. I’ve found a good set of products that don’t disappoint, and most of these I have been using for months that are definitely worth talking about. Alright, let’s get started with the mess that is my makeup bag.

The first thing I pull out of my bag would probably be my Neutrogena Skin Clearing pressed mineral powder. This is a staple for me to smooth out my skin and keep it shine free.

The next product I just started using recently is the Covergirl Ready Set Gorgeous concealer. I’m not sure if I’m in love with it yet, but it does get the job done fairly well in concealing any blemishes I have.

My must-have beauty product at all times is the Mabelline Lash Sensational full fan effect mascara. This is the holy-grail of mascaras. Before I found this, I would switch up with other kinds, but I can never go back to anything else now. It is clump-free, has a great applicator, and is overall just a quality mascara. Enough said.

One thing I can’t leave the house without is my eyebrows being done. I’m currently using the Milani Stay Put Brow Color, which comes in a pot and has a creamy consistency so you can apply it with an angled brush. It lasts a long time, and has great color and doesn’t melt off by the end of the day.

The last product you will find in my makeup bag is my Bare Minerals loose eyeshadows.   I keep my makeup fairly minimal since I give myself a solid 10 minutes in the morning to get ready, so I don’t use these on a daily basis, but when I get the chance they are a great thing to have. I have a mini opalescent set of three called Precious Pearls Eyecolor Trio. This came in a holiday set including the colors blissful pearl, (sandy color) cultured pearl, (light pink) and magnificent pearl, (taupe) as well as a full size in the color serene .

I do use eyeliner on occasion, but I ran out and don’t really have a brand worth sharing as of now. That’s all I have for today, I hope you found this post useful, and I want to hear what your makeup bag has, or if you have any recommendations on what I should add to mine. Thanks for reading!

Top Ten Valentine’s Day Movies

Hey Guys! It’s M again, and today, we’re going to be talking about my Top Ten Movies to watch on Valentine’s Day. Whether you are spending the holiday with a significant other or are having your own Galentine’s Day party with your best friends, (P, T, and I will be celebrating with the latter!) this list has a movie (or two, or three) for any way that you choose to celebrate.

  1. The Notebook
    1. A story about how love grows and changes over time, this romantic classic is perfect for a Valentine’s Day marathon. (Just make sure to keep the tissues handy.)
  2. Bridget Jones’s Diary
    1. P and my favorite rom-com is a perfect movie to watch with the girls this holiday, plus, it has Colin Firth. And Hugh Grant. And my heart.
  3. 10 Things I Hate About You
    1. Possibly one of the best rom-coms of the 90s, 10 Things I Hate About You is a charming story about unexpected love. (With a ton of laughs along the way– Young Heath Ledger anyone?!)
  4. The Best of Me
    1. My favorite Nicholas Sparks movie; to me this is a more modern version of The Notebook. (Just as tear-jerking, but with James Marsden to restore your faith in our good friend N.S.)
  5. How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days
    1. If Kate Hudson’s antics aren’t enough to get you to watch this movie, just a PSA, Matthew McConaughey attempts to sing. Enough said.
  6. Sleepless in Seattle
    1. Sleepless in Seattle has it all, a cute kid, true love, and a young Tom Hanks. No wonder this movie has become one of my Valentine’s Day staples.
  1. Dirty Dancing
    1. Dirty Dancing, aka, the best romantic movie of the 80s, is another perfect pick for this year. Between Patrick Swayze and the amazing dances, this film will have you out of your seat and (at least attempting) to dance.
  2. Casablanca
    1. Arguably the most classic romantic movie of all time, this is the best movie to watch if you wish to cry uncontrollably this Valentine’s Day.
  3. Crazy, Stupid, Love
    1. Crazy, Stupid, Love is the Queen of all chic flicks; it has a shirtless Ryan Gosling paired with Steve Carrell in a character completely opposite of Michael Scott from The Office. Need I say more?
  4. Gone With the Wind
    1. My all time favorite movie is at the top of my list to watch this Valentine’s Day. It has the southern feel of a Nicholas Sparks movie with the historical context to make you feel like you’re engaging your brain as you stuff your face with chocolate.

I hope that these movie suggestions will help you this Valentine’s Day, and be sure to comment your favorite Valentine’s Day movies in the comments below!

How To Be Healthy

Hey everyone, it’s T. Now, I don’t always like to eat all of my vegetables like I’m suppose to, but brownies don’t make for the best bikini body. It’s not always fun to be healthy, but it is necessary. I’ve been working on keeping my body in better shape this year, and I wanted to share a few things I’ve been doing to get to the best place possible for my well-being.

Eating is a big part in staying healthy. To keep my eating in check I’ve found it helpful to track my calories. I like to use an app on my phone called LoseIt. All I need to do is scan the bar code or type in what I’m eating, and it will tell me the calories and nutrients are, and it just gives me a clear indicator of how much I should eat a day, and keeps me from overeating. You should also eat lots of fruits and vegetables throughout the day, because even if chips are within your daily number of calories doesn’t mean they are a good choice. Go for the foods you can get from nature rather than a bag.

I enjoy playing tennis and volleyball as a way to stay fit. I usually do volleyball in the summer, fall, and winter, and tennis in the spring, so I’m active most of the year. When I don’t play sports, I try to get to the gym to run and use some of the equipment. This is a lot of commitment, and this is not the only way to keep healthy at all. The most important thing to remember is to just find something you can enjoy doing and make it a part of your weekly routine. Keeping active is a great way to be at your best.

Another way I keep healthy is by drinking as much water as possible. Water clears skin, helps headaches, aids in weight loss, and is overall good in every aspect. You can find other ways to get enough fluids like adding flavoring or drinking tea, because plain water gets boring sometimes. 8 glasses of water a day will certainly provide a positive difference in your life.

There are obviously many other ways to improve your health, but these are just a few that have had an effect on helping my body. Find what works for you, we don’t all have the time or money to go vegan and be at the gym 6 hours a day, but every little bit counts. Feel free to leave questions or comments below, I’d love to hear what you have to say. Thanks for reading!

Yoga Poses to Help Alleviate Period Cramps

Hey guys! It’s M, and today we are going to be talking about yoga poses to help alleviate period cramps. Before actually testing this method, I had tried everything to help lessen the pain every month; heating packs, Pamprin, chocolate (it only helps for a little while, ladies), and nothing was able to quickly and efficiently rid myself of this monthly nuisance. Now, whenever I get hit with a rather awful round of cramps, I use yoga to help relax me and to make myself a little more comfortable.

  1. Child Pose
    1. Lay flat on your stomach with your legs tucked beneath you.
    2. Reach your arms forwards as far they will go while still remaining comfortable.
    3. Relax and breath deeply.
  2. Butterfly Pose
    1. Sit with your back straight and put the soles of your feet together.
    2. Lower your knees to the floor (while still remaining comfortable) and hold the pose.
  3. Cobra Pose
    1. Lay flat on your stomach.
    2. Place your hands at your sides and push your upper body off of the floor.
    3. Relax and hold the pose.

I really hope that these yoga poses help you as much as they have helped me. (Pro tip: if you haven’t achieved results after several rounds of this, try placing a heating pad at your stomach as you do the poses!)

Skin Care on a Budget

Hello everyone, it’s P. In my last post I mentioned that I have a slight addiction to skin care products. However, as a person with limited income, I must be thrifty and experiment within my means. Lucky for me, all natural skin care remedies are often easy on your wallet, and gentle on your skin!

  • I’ve struggled with oily skin for a while now. Every time I’d finish one face wash, I’d move onto the next, unsatisfied with the results I was getting. The face wash I’m working with right now, however, may be a keeper! Lately I’ve been using Bioré Deep Pore Charcoal Cleanser. Charcoal is great for oily skin. It practically drags the dirt from your pores. I wash my face with this twice a day and exfoliate with a soft silicone cleansing brush.
  • The next thing you need for a proper skin care routine is toner. Toner is important to help minimize pores. It clears out any remaining oils and grime, leaving your skin refreshed. I’ve recently been using Thayer’s Witch Hazel with rose water. It’s alcohol-free so you know it won’t dry out your skin! It’s so light and easy that you can use it throughout the day anytime you need a pick me up. Another added plus; rose water has great anti-inflammatory properties that’ll leave your skin clear and reduce the appearance of acne.
  • Now the last step of your skin routine is moisturizing. Remember, just because you want to put a stop to excess oil that’ll make your face appear dirty, doesn’t mean you want to rid your skin of essential hydration! Of course moisturizer is important, but that doesn’t mean you need to go broke buying unnecessarily expensive product. My favorite moisturizer is also extremely frugal; coconut oil! I adore coconut oil, I use it obsessively. I use it in the shower after my soap to soften my skin. I use it on my lips to prevent chipping. It’s a miracle make-up remover (it literally melts make-up off your skin!). After my toner dries I warm some coconut oil in my hands until it achieves an buttery texture and then massage it into my face. Then i wash it off (but remember, it’s an oil which will not mix with water, so you must make sure to rinse properly).  Pat dry with a towel.

I know that skin can be fickle and vary widely from person to person, but this routine helps me manage my skin fairly well. Not only does my skin seem less oily since I started, the coconut oil also makes my complexion more even. I hope you’ll give it a try!

My High-End Beauty Wish List

A trip to Sephora is like heaven. The aisles upon aisles of sparkling shadows and bright lipsticks call at you, “buy me.” Our bank accounts don’t always agree, however. Oftentimes I have to leave the store without purchasing everything I want (which isn’t uncommon because I want everything).  So, I present to you my list of high-end products I’ve been dying to try, but haven’t quite gotten around to buying.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz

If you know anything about me, you know brows are of utmost importance to my look. This product is something I’ve always heard so much about, but I’ve never gotten around to buying. This is for sure the next high-end purchase I will be making for my beauty regimen.

Urban Decay Naked Palette

The Naked Palette is something every beauty guru owns, and their neutral colors  seem to be exactly what my collection is missing.  It’s always been on my wishlist, and one day I’ll definitely have to purchase it.

Bare Minerals Original Foundation

I have a few of the Bare Minerals eye shadows already, and I expect their foundation will be just as good. They seem to be a company that is natural and won’t make my skin breakout, and I’ve always wanted to test that theory. I think that would be a great product to have, but I’ve never committed to actually going out and trying it.

GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Treatment

I always hear such positive reviews about mud masks, and this one is at the top of my list. It seemed to be a great product to try, but the price always made me shy away. This would be a big investment, but I might have to splurge on this, or something similar, because I’m curious if it will actually work the miracles it claims to.

These were just a few items that I’ve been itching to try for awhile now. I think they would be a great addition to my beauty collection. Thanks for reading, and feel free to share in the comments what is on your beauty wish list!

The Best Lipsticks For Pale Skin

Hey guys, it’s M, and today I’m going to be talking about the best lipsticks for pale skin. As someone born with pale skin in an Italian and Armenian household, it was always hard for me to get lipstick tips from my mom and sister, as they both had super tanned skin all year round. (We still joke that I’m the only girl who got the Polish gene). As I got older and developed my makeup style, I discovered what shades worked to help me feel a little closer to glamour every day…

Pinks:

I have found that pinks look best on my pale skin for a fresh, everyday look. These are the ones that I absolutely swear by:

  1. Revlon Balm Stain in Honey
  2. Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede in Preview
  3. Clinique in Beauty
  4. Lancôme Color Design in All Done Up
  5. NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes (This lipcolor was also recommended by P, who wears it all the time!)

Purples:

I like to wear purples on special occasions, or for a darker everyday look in the fall and winter:

  1. Clinique in Shy
  2. NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Palais Royal
  3. Lancôme Color Design in Fashion Icon

Reds:

I love wearing reds more than any other lip color. They make me feel super glamorous, even after only putting on one swoop. Teak Rose and Certainly Red are my go to’s for when I want to feel more done up:

  1. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Teak Rose
  2. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Certainly Red
  3. Lancôme Color Design in Curtain Call

Nudes:

Although I do not wear nude lip colors very often, P recommend her favorite nudes, NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in London and in Stockholm. She absolutely loves them, and they look great on her!
I hope this post was helpful, and be sure to leave more of your go to lipsticks for pale skin in the comments below!

DIY Gelatin Face Peel

Hi guys! It’s P here today. Since I’ve always been slightly obsessed with skin treatments, I thought I’d share with all of you one of my favorite homemade peels. This peel is super simple to make and always gives me the results I’m hoping for. Its intended use is clearing blackheads but it also leaves the skin on my face feeling soft and smooth.

  • There are only two ingredients required for this miracle mask; gelatin and milk!
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of unflavored gelatin powder and 2 tablespoons of milk
  • microwave for about 15 seconds and make sure it mixes properly
  • The result may look a bit lumpy, but that’s fine (make sure to apply the mask evenly over your skin quickly after heating or else it will start to congeal!)
  • Let the mask dry for about 30 minutes before removing (tip: begin peeling from the bottom of your face upwards to clear your pores most effectively!)

Voilá, perfect pores. Now it’s only fair to warn you, this peel can be painful for some. When I made them for my sister and me, she struggled immensely when removing it! I’ve always been a fan, however, and love to recommend it to friends. Hope you like it (and good luck!).
